Dinner is a challenge for us during the week. Heck, it can be a challenge anytime. But, with school, work, dance classes, Girl Scouts and the like, I need something that I can get on the table within 30 minutes from start to finish. This week’s #SundaySupper is all about quick and easy meals that sizzle!
Having a plan is the first step in making a dinner, especially a quick dinner, a success. Do you have all of the ingredients? Protein, veggie, starch… and how are you cooking them? What seasonings are you going to use? What is your prep going to be like?
Sometimes the prep takes as long as the actual cooking portion of a meal. You’ve got to drag out pans, ingredients, your spices, etc. Things need to be chopped, diced, preheated. It’s easy to lose valuable time. I often try to do as much a head as I can, but some days that just doesn’t happen. Enter Land O Lakes® and their new Sauté Express® Sauté Starters.
These are simply ingenious! You’ve got your fat, your herbs and your spices all in one convenient little package. You can use as few or as many of the prepackaged cubes as you need (I used 3 for the recipe below) and they come in a package of 6 cubes, so you will have at least enough in one box for 2 meals, maybe more!

I’m sure at least one of those tickles your fancy… all four tickle mine. I can attest to the powerful flavor in these little packages. The Garlic & Herb had the perfect amount of garlic and made for a very savory dish that was quick and guilt free. One of my favorite things about the product (aside from ease of use and the incredible flavor) was that I could actual read, pronounce and understand all of the ingredients on the side of the package! That’s a big thing for me.

I’m always straight with you guys, so while I love, love, love the Sauté Express® Sauté Starters, there were two things I’d like to see done differently/changed. First, these are ‘fat’ based, so they leave your hands a little icky if you can’t get them to release from the wrapper without touching them. Same as with butter. I’d love to see them explore some other package options to make it less necessary to actually touch the product. Second, I’d love to see a variety pack offered. How awesome would it be to pick up a pack of 3 cubes of two different flavors or some such combination. I would very much love to see that become a reality! (You guys could help a girl out here by sharing your enthusiasm for the variety pack idea by touching base with the lovely people at Land O Lakes®. All-in-all, this is a fantastic product! I’m very much looking forward to using the Lemon Pepper on chicken to toss with pasta and maybe the Italian Herb on some breaded cutlets for some chicken sandwiches with yummy melting cheese!
And, now for what I made… this simple, though flavorful stir-fry is quick, healthy and sure to please. Serve it with the Almond Cilantro Rice as I did, or simply add your own favorite side!
- 3 cubes Garlic and Herb Sauté Express® Sauté Starters, divided
- 1-1/2 lb Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast, Cut Into Cubes
- 12 oz package 'Fancy' Green Beans, Thawed and Drained
- In a non-stick skillet, heat 2 cubes Garlic and Herb Sauté Express® Sauté Starters over medium heat.
- Once bubbling, add chicken breast cubes and stir to coat. Increase heat to medium-high and cook chicken, stirring constantly, until the chicken is cooked through 7-10 minutes.
- Add the thawed, drained green beans and toss.
- Add the remaining cube of Garlic and Herb Sauté Express® Sauté Starters to the pan.
- Continue to stir the mixture until the green beans are heated through, but remain crispy.
- 2 Cups Water
- 2 Cups Minute Instant Rice
- ¼ Sliced Almonds
- ¼ Cup Fresh Cilantro, chopped
- Bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Stir in rice and almonds.
- Cover and remove from the heat.
- Allow to stand 5 minutes.
- Add cilantro and stir to incorporate.
- Serve immediately.
