The last week has been a busy one… Full of food, family and fun. We rolled back the clock a bit on a few of the things the kids enjoyed this week, and did things a little more like what I did growing up.
Last Sunday we enjoyed breaking in the new fire pit (awesome Christmas gift from my mom and my sister) by roasting some marshmallows and making s’mores! Despite our children being bundled up, it really wasn’t that cold. Notice my sister’s choice of foot wear… I was barefoot and in short sleeves. (Sunday, January 8th)
Monday was ‘back to work’ and back to school for the kids, but we always try to either make it to the gym or get a workout on the Wii at some point in the afternoon. Addison decided she wanted to play on the Wii when I finished, so I thought it would be a good a good chance to teach her a little old-school Super Mario Bros. (Monday, January 9th)
Remember my feather? Yep. Soggy, but still there. (Tuesday, January 10th)
Wednesday was another dreary day. I always feel bad for the teachers working the drop-off line on days like this. (Wednesday, January 11th)
I loved Lego blocks as a kid. We had a huge tub of them and building with them was so fun! We’ve finally got to the point of not worrying about Cullen putting small pieces in his mouth, so Addison was able to get her first Lego set for Christmas from my sister. Not surprisingly, her brother wanted in on the action. He played with the Lego blocks for quite some time Thursday afternoon while Addison did art. (Thursday, January 12th)
Fridays are a busy day for us. The kids have school until 1, then we rush to be at Addison’s dance class – changed and ready to go – by 1:30. Cullen doesn’t nap much any more, but Fridays always seem to exhaust him. I’d drug my laptop along so I could get some work done during the hour long class, and Cullen finally succeeded in rooting the laptop out of the way and crawling into my lap for a little shut-eye. (Friday, January 13th)
With the hustle and bustle of the holidays,we haven’t really gone out to do much as a family. Saturday we took a trip to the mall – where there happens to be a Lego store. Want to guess who came home with a new Lego Friends set? Want to guess who had to put together all 222 pieces to make this little Cafe? It’s ok. I didn’t mind. It’s a good thing too, because I got to do it again this morning. (Saturday, January 14th)
Speaking of Lego blocks… wowzers! Those things are expensive! If you have any tips and tricks on how to make my budding builders content without taking out a second mortgage, please let me know!
