Party Planning: American Girl Spa Party for Girl’s 7th Birthday!

I always start planning birthday parties pretty far in advance.  I generally know the “when” at least 6 months out, the “what” is a close second around 3-4 months out and the “where” is usually concrete with at least 2 months to go.  Thanks to the invent of Pinterest, planning has become SO much easier!  I’ve been loosely planning an American Girl party for the girl since her party last year.  Her decision on theme was solidified after our trip to the American Girl store in Atlanta back in August.

With her party a month away, I’ve started nailing down some of the details for the perfect American Girl Spa Party…

The invite is from Storybook Lane Crafts on Etsy.  She was great to work with – clear and concise on what she needed and what the turnaround on the invites would be, delivered well within the time frame she laid out, and her prices were very reasonable.

The invitation… With our address removed, of course!

To welcome our guests to the spa. I found this image on Pinterest (sadly, user uploaded and I couldn’t locate a source 🙁 ).  It should be easy enough to make with just a few supplies from the craft store and will make a cute keepsake for the girl.

Spa Party Door Hanger

Isn’t this cute?

This is a Spa Kit from Cake Face Toppers that I’m going to attempt to emulate for each girl and her doll.  The plan is to have a complete spa kit for each girl and her doll that they pick up as they arrive.  Most everything will be reusable and serve as their ‘take-home’ from the party.

Spa Party Kit

Individual packages for each doll…

In addition to the spa kits, I plan to make some of these amazing Soap ‘Dessert’ Table creations from Hostess with the Mostess.  I’ll set up a little ‘dessert table’ of my own and let the girl’s choose some of their favorites to add to their bag before they leave.

These look good enough to eat…almost!

I haven’t decided if this will be an ‘at the party’ craft or if I’ll have these already made, but what trip to the spa would be complete without special shoes?  These Spa Shoes from The TomKat Studio looked like something that would be easy enough to make, and it’s not like I don’t already have a stash of hoarded fabric to choose from…

Easy, peasy!

These Spa Wraps from Janice Ferguson Sews are on my ‘I hope to make this happen’ list.  I’ve got to do some hunting for towels on sale or clearance – I’m hoping to score (at least for the dolls) at the Dollar Tree.

Maybe not so easy, peasy.

Of course, we’ll do nails (Jamberry or polish), facials (complete with cucumber slices) and have spa-type pick up food… and cake.

I love the “dessert” soap table, I haven’t seen that before!

I hadn’t either! I’ve made shaped soaps (we did Halloween soaps two years ago) and I think the Popsicle soaps would be so cute and easy!

  2. Oh. My. Goodness. Can you plan my party? For me? (I’ll be turning 30). That’s the thing about American Girl dolls, MOMS and girls love them. My daughter (6) has one, and she would die if she had a party like this. You are amazing. This is a party for the record books, and certainly the scrapbooks. I have an idea for your nails, cheap too, I’ll see if I can catch you on facebook. Good luck. I’ll be back. Love your site!

  6. great ideas! I really like the flip flops and think it would be a great in party activity so each girl can personalize their own. Good luck with the party!
