Self-Sabotage: Don’t Fall Off The Wagon {Take Shape For Life – Week 11} #TSFL (Sponsored)

A special ‘thanks’ to Take Shape for Life for setting me up on my weight loss journey. Take Shape for Life has provided me with a health coach and all of the products/materials I need to evaluate their program and take this journey toward a healthier, much smaller me.  While the products/materials are free to me, that will in no way influence my opinion of the program or any of the information I share with you through this journey.  All thoughts and opinions will be mine and they will be honest, even when I fall off the wagon.

Saturday night, I went rogue.  I fell off the wagon, and I fell off hard.  It was different than it has been in the past though.  Saturday, I made a conscious decision to go off plan.  I don’t know how it is for you when you’re trying to lose weight, but for me, my typical ‘fall off the wagon’ includes a binge of some sort followed by self-pity, some wallowing and a healthy dose of remorse.

I knew this night out was coming, I thought it through (several times, actually) and decided that I would eat what I wanted and not feel guilty about it.  I did it, I moved on and went right back on plan Sunday morning.  I don’t feel bad about it one bit.

Two of my very best friends…

My body did though.  Oh, it punished me all night Saturday and most of Sunday.  The next time I decide to fall off the wagon, I don’t think I’ll go quite so ‘balls to the wall’ about it.  I went from no bread, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes to a Reuben with sweet potato fries and marshmallow dipping sauce.  Holy carb overload.  I may have also enjoyed some alcohol.

My body taught me a very important lesson.  While my head already knew that I was making an unhealthy choice, my body reaffirmed that for me.

While it’s not something that I plan on doing often (especially since I’m over half way to my goal!), I know there will come a time when I want to go off plan again.  The key is reminding myself that it’s one moment in time and the fall off the wagon doesn’t have to be a permanent one.  I can pick myself up, dust myself off and get right back on plan.

Despite my indiscretions, I’m still down a pound this week.  That puts me .6 lbs short of a 30 lb loss!  I’m pretty darn proud of myself.  Here’s a recap of where I’m at…

Week 12 should be interesting, seeing as how I will be on vacation for most of it!  While it won’t be a free-for-all, I will be off plan some through my vacation.  Hey – It’s supposed to be a vacation – and I will be upping my activity level to make up for some of the extra calories.  I will also be using the things I’ve learned over the last 11 weeks to help me make good choices, at least most of the time.

I won’t have a week 12 weigh in to share with you next week (who takes their scale on vacation?) but instead I will have a review of the Medifast products I’ve been munching on for the last 3 months.  If you’re new to the #TSFL program or Medifast, next week will be a great chance for you to get some feedback on most of the Medifast products.

If you’re interest in trying Take Shape For Life yourself, give me a shout!  I’d love to chat with you about it!
