Slow and Steady Wins the Race {Take Shape For Life – Week 16} #TSFL (Sponsored)

A special ‘thanks’ to Take Shape for Life for setting me up on my weight loss journey.  Take Shape for Life has provided me with a health coach and all of the products/materials I need to evaluate their program and take this journey toward a healthier, much smaller me.  While the products/materials are free to me, that will in no way influence my opinion of the program or any of the information I share with you through this journey.  All thoughts and opinions will be mine and they will be honest, good, bad or indifferent.

Wow!  16 weeks…. it’s gone by so quickly.  Really, it has!  Maybe it’s that the year has gone by quickly in general?  At any rate, I never imagined that when I started this journey in May that I would be just above my ‘healthy weight’ in 16 weeks.  Honestly and truly!  I’ve done the whole ‘going to lose weight’ thing before – many, many times – but I have never had this amount of success, of progress, in 16 weeks.

That being said, things are slowing down a bit.  That’s normal and I knew it would happen.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m still loosing – just more 1 lb weeks than 2 lb weeks.  Some of that is inherent of weight loss… if you have more to lose, you lose more at once… and some of it is because I have occasionally allowed myself some indulgences.  I’m ok with that.  For me, it’s what’s realistic.  Those little indulgences from time to time are part of what has made this so “do-able” for me.

Even my indulgences have changed though…

Yesterday, I went out with co-workers for lunch.  We walked to a near by Italian place that we all love…it’s been a while for me.  I decided to let myself have something a little heavier than a salad (ok, a lot heavier) and ordered Chicken Parm (horrible, I know).  Here’s where the story changes though… In April, I would have eaten 90% of what was on my plate.  And it’s a big plate.  Yesterday, I had about a third of the chicken, a few bites (like, literally 4) of the pasta and completely ignored the garlic knot all together.

I was satisfied.  Completely and thoroughly satisfied.

It feels good to be satisfied without being miserably stuffed.

That being said, Chicken Parm and all, I am down again this week.  Also, you’ll notice that it’s been 2 weeks since my last update.  As things are slowing down a bit, I’m going to go to bi-weekly updates.  Here are the numbers…
