My little monkey had her second surgery in 4 months yesterday to remove a cyst in her neck. Despite the fact that a surgeon would be poking around in my baby’s neck, I couldn’t help think she was adorably cute in her little hospital gown (see her Sponge Bob PJ pants peeking out underneath?) and cap.
This is hopefully her last surgery for a while. She will likely have one in a few years to patch a hole in one of her ear drums, but we’re holding off for now, hoping that it will close up on its own.
If you’ve never seen a child after pre-anesthesia, it’s basically like watching a tiny drunk. Hilarious stuff, until they get angry. Our little patient lost her patience about 15 minutes after her happy juice kicked in, but thankfully it was time for her to go back and get the real deal, so she didn’t stay angry for long.
Her surgery took just over an hour, start to finish. All in all, we were at the hospital for 6 hours. They really should consider more comfortable chairs. My back is killing me!
My little trooper doesn’t want pain meds, and seems to be getting alone fine. She’s supposed to take it easy for a few days, but we may need a sedative to accomplish that!
