Vacuum Lines and Dust Bunnies

Do you ever have one of those days where you feel like you’ve completely lost control?  You haven’t showered, the kids are crazy, the house is a wreck…  If you’re a mom, you know what I’m talking about.
Today was my day to feel like I was on a runaway train.  The kids were all drama this morning.  Getting the girl ready for preschool was like pulling teeth, the boy was dangling from the hem of my shirt and even the dogs wouldn’t stay out from under my feet.  Mother nature wasn’t helping my cause either.  Usually I can turn the kids and dogs out in the back yard to catch a break, but not today.  They gray skies opened up this morning and the rain fell.  I worked a bit, attempted an exam for the World History class I’m taking because I’ve obviously lost my mind and after a miserable showing on the exam decided I needed to find something I could control the outcome of.  Enter ‘the dirty house’.
I may not be able to peel the kids off my legs or keep the dog from stealing little man’s snack, but I can make the living room carpet look like freshly mowed grass and hunt those dust bunnies down with precision that would make Elmer Fudd jealous.  And I can feel good about it when I’m done.
